What you are paying for
There is no package price on this form. After we accept the work, billing is three separate things — you only pay the ones that apply.
- Engineering time. Design and build are billed hourly for the hours actually worked. The rate is agreed before we start. Invoices go to your email with a button to pay by card.
- Web server — $20/month. If the site or app lives on a server we run, that is a DigitalOcean droplet billed at cost, currently $20 per month. It starts when you set up hosting on the invoice (your card, not ours) and you can cancel when the project no longer needs the machine.
- Domain name — about $40 to start, only if needed. A domain is the address people type (example: yourshop.com). If you already own one, we point it at the server and you pay nothing extra here. If you do not have one, we register it for several years (often three). New registrations are usually discounted the first year; later years cost more, so the exact amount depends on the name and term. We use about $40 as a planning number and charge the real registrar fee on the first invoice — not a markup for picking the name.
Linux and software-only jobs often skip hosting and domain entirely.
